Shrimp Chop Suey – The Best Chop Suey in Dayton Chop Suey Carryout is closed on Sundays, so make sure you hit them up Monday through Saturday til about 9pm. It makes for a fun Food Adventure, just grab some chop sticks and go to town. All the meals are served in those “little Chinese to-go boxes,” even if you dine-in. Do yourself a favor, get the regular, it is a good sized portion and will save you some cash. The prices are reasonable and all dishes come in size Regular or Large. We voted it “Best Dining Room for filming a scene from Kojak.” If you must dine-in be prepared for the retro dining room. As the name suggests, it is a great place for carryout. The same family owns the restaurant today, and have kept the location on E. Chop Suey Carryout was opened in 1973 by a family who had moved to the U.S. Their recipes remain identical since the 70’s, and the result is generations of loyal followers. How has this place stayed in business for so long? The answer is consistently good food and good prices. We usually frequent Young Chow in Kettering (closed for renovations until the 19th of April) half the price and twice the flavor and quantity. The ticket was $36! It seems like they are skimping and gouging their customers. Mala Chicken had NO flavor and not the distinctive Mala seasoning. It was terrible! The Sesame Beef was gummy, not crispy sauce was runny. Ordered 2 DISHES: Sesame Beef and Mala Chicken, one with fried rice one with white rice. It would've been better to not respond as opposed to this flippant comment, especially since you've disregarded grammar entirely! UPDATE TO OWNERS COMMENT BELOW: Owner's response was extremely ridiculous and condescending! With inflation increasing their already unjustifiable prices, I am offended that this is their answer for a repeat customer who has continued to give them business to support businesses in my neighborhood. Even the smallest Chinese restaurants in Lubbock TX could cook real fried rice. Unless you go to a real Chinese restaurant and shell out 14$. Oil, vegetables, seasonings and fried then egg well scrambled in. Cooking fried rice is supposed to be old white rice. None of the budget "Chinese" restaurants put eggs in the fried rice. I'm starting to get the feeling that no "Chinese" restaurants here make fried rice. How can someone call this soy sauce when it's not made with soybeans? Only because the food is just worth the money. But overall the prices match the quality. Also you will find out if they serve real sauces with their food or colored water with sugar or salt depending on the sauce. 99% of the time if they can make a good egg roll they can make good food. I ordered for myself the one thing that usually can tell you everything you need to know about a Chinese restaurant. ![]()
